Nottingham Guardian

Council workers have started to distribute food parcels to vulnerable people isolating in their homes in Nottingham.

The operation which involves food parcels being put together at one of the city’s leisure centres will provide essentials to vulnerable people in the city who are currently self-isolating.

A customer hub has also been set up and will provide different levels are support.

Residents who are eligible for these food parcels will have it delivered by members of the council’s passenger transport services team who have been redeployed to carry out this vital work.

There will also be Vegan and Halal versions available if required.

Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities, Cllr Rebecca Langton, said: This is an exceptional effort across a range of council services who are pulling together to provide a brand new, vital service from scratch to the homes of vulnerable people around the city.”

Residents can call the Customer Hub on  0115 915 5555 or find out more online at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/coronavirus
