Nottingham City Transport to launches contactless payments

Nottingham City Transport are now accepting contactless payments on their buses, in order to provide a more secure travelling experience.

NCT are the first operator offer contactless payments as part of the ‘Nottingham Contactless’ scheme, with the City Council’s Linkbus and NET trams to follow.

Following a successful trail period, customers were left impressed with how simple and easy to use the new system was.

For many years NCT have had a no change policy, meaning that customers had to have the correct change when boarding.

However, now thanks to this new scheme customers will no longer need to worry about finding the correct money before boarding.

Cllr Adele Williams, the council’s Portfolio Holder for Transport, said: “Making it easy, convenient and affordable for people to use public transport is one of our priorities to encourage greener, more sustainable travel in and around the city. This is especially important as we plan our recovery from the ongoing impacts of Covid-19.

The NCT app also offers customers a contactless payment method, allowing them to purchase mobile tickets in the app.
