Nottingham City Council have announced that the annual Bonfire Night and fireworks display at the Forest Recreation Ground has been cancelled due to Covid-19.
The annual event normally attracts around 40,000 people, many of who use local transport to travel to the Forest.
Although the events team have considered possible options to make the event Covid secure, they concluded due to the high numbers who attend this would have been impossible.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Nottingham City Council, said: “Our Events team have again considered a variety of approaches to try to find a way of hosting Bonfire Night and the accompanying two firework displays, but in light of the latest Government rules on large scale public gatherings there was just no way we could do that safely."
Other Covid-related event cancellations in Nottingham this year include, Splendour, the Nottingham Beach, Riverside Festival and the world famous Goose Fair.
Nottingham City Council hope the popular event will return in 2021.
